DHCP Client in ubuntu

In ubuntu, how to release/renew DHCP IP.

Release DHCP IP
$dhclient -r eth0

Renew DHCP IP
$dhclient eth0

the renew DHCP IP method: "dhclient eth0" seems lead duplication of dhclient daemon.
kill the dhclient first?
